The interdiac Honorary Council took place from 9th -11th October in Český Těšín. These dates marked the fifth anniversary of the major interdiac consultation held in Zelena Bucha, Kyiv. It therefore signalled the completion of the 5-year implementation of the interdiac development strategy along with its partners. It was also the first face-to-face meeting of Honorary Council members since the outbreak of the Covid 19 epidemic. It was a time to review the past, to lament for those who have suffered or who have passed and to look to the future.
The interdiac team created a space for the participants to get to know more about the learning journey of participants in various interdiac programmes over the past five years. After this information sharing and debriefing, participants were invited to create a new plan for the future of interdiac. This was designed according to the interdiac vision for building a supportive and empowering learning community in conviviality. (Click the link for more information) As mentioned, participants reflected on the disturbing events which have been undermining the life within the region over the past years  and the results of the reflection and analysis were embedded in the content and processes of the future work of interdiac.
Over the next three years programmatic actions will be aimed at shaping and creating Thematic Support Groups among engaged grass-root professionals and activists. Key themes will be: Working with Marginalised Young People, Everyday Peace in Diaconal Practice, Support of People in Conflict Situations and Spirituality and Theological Reflection and Diaconia. A specific  Thematic Support Group programme on Action-Based Learning will also be launched and interdiac will continue the collaborative work on conviviality as a core concept for diaconia. The working processes around these themes will gradually develop over the next three years and the programme will include support, learning, exchange and publication.
